This was the first eat stop in Italy.
We’d had a hearty breakfast on the flight and weren’t particularly starving after we got off. Add to the shuttle time to the city center, walk to where we were staying, checking-in there, freshening up and then heading out. And then me being me, heading out meant heading out to a nice place to eat. Anything on the way usually doesn’t do it. Unless it makes an impression on me.
So, after a long stroll, which was not aimless, we came to the Montenapoleone neighbourhood where Cafe Cova was bookmarked. We had the typical afternoon style drink and some goodies to eat. We did the not-classic-Italian thing by sitting rather than eating/drinking at the bar (of which we did plenty, later). It would’ve been a bit tiring after the flight to do it all, especially since neither the hubs, nor I are good sleepers in the flight.
So it was a macchiato, some pastries and a glass of wine that was expensive, but came with little bites.
The pastries were decent. The service was warm. The place was that classic historic cafe feel and look, like the recent ones in Oporto and Lisbon we visited last November.
Beautiful post and pictures, of one of the places nearest to my heart.
Thank you, Merritt 🙂
Glad they resonated with you 🙂
