Faifo Coffee will pop up on looking up good cafes in Hoi An.
A very hot day with the morning spent at My Son booked through Klook. A hilarious Vietnamese Shah Rukh Khan for a guide (don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of his interviews). A modest lunch part of the My Son tour served on a boat over the Thu Bon River. A break at the hotel.
Then, I stepped out in the sweltering heat again for a Vietnamese style coffee at Faifo. It’s one of the most charming cafes I’ve been to, yet.
Not having learnt any Vietnamese, I was concerned all the while till they brought my drink to make sure it won’t be in a plastic cup. Thankfully, it wasn’t.
Ca phe sua da is iced coffee with milk, in Vietnamese. Condensed milk was adopted by them for their love of all things sweet, after the French used them for their coffees back in the day when milk wasn’t as easily available, I read.
The condensed milk goes in the glass first, followed by the coffee drip. Ice is served on the side for you to add according to your preference.
I saw a bunch of youngsters just go to to the terrace for #photoop, without ordering any coffee.
I enjoyed my coffee, typed this post while waiting for the sun and heat to go down a bit before heading upstairs.
